Why this matters

Review fertility, red blood cells, and other questions to raise about testosterone injections.

How the pieces connect

If you use testosterone injections, discuss fertility, blood counts, skin effects, and how often to review the plan.

Monitoring is part of a treatment choice

The injection report highlights sperm production, red-cell counts, skin effects and injection-site concerns. These questions should be discussed before and during treatment. Monitoring is not only about reaching a hormone number; it also checks unwanted effects and whether the original symptoms are improving. The Endocrine Society lists reduced sperm production and high red-cell counts among possible risks of testosterone treatment. The appropriate plan depends on the reason for treatment and the individual’s goals.

Keep in mind

Do not change a prescribed testosterone regimen on the basis of an older report. Ask your prescriber about the specific benefits, risks, and monitoring that apply to you.

A question for your next conversation

Which benefits and adverse effects will we track, and when will the plan be reassessed?
