Understand the connection

CCL11, also called eotaxin-1, guides eosinophils toward tissues by signaling through CCR3. Eosinophils are immune cells involved in allergies and defense against some parasites.

Follow the pathway

Dr. Purser connects eosinophil recruitment with allergic airway and skin inflammation. He also discusses research on CCL11 and brain aging; a research association is different from predicting an individual’s future health.

Bring these questions to your visit

Ask which result is being discussed: a genetic variant, a measured protein level, or a diagnosed condition. How does it fit with your symptoms and other tests? Dr. Purser discusses antioxidant support alongside these pathways; ask how any supplement would fit with your medicines and care plan.
