Understand the connection

CCL3, or MIP-1 alpha, helps call immune cells into tissue through receptors including CCR1 and CCR5. Normal recruitment supports defense and repair; persistent recruitment can contribute to inflammation.

Follow the pathway

Dr. Purser discusses macrophage activity, osteoclasts that break down bone, and inflammatory joint damage. His teaching also connects CCL3 signaling with oxidative stress and the antioxidant network.

Bring these questions to your visit

Ask which result is being discussed: a genetic variant, a measured protein level, or a diagnosed condition. How does it fit with your symptoms and other tests? Dr. Purser discusses antioxidant support alongside these pathways; ask how any supplement would fit with your medicines and care plan.
