Understand the connection

CCL5, also called RANTES, attracts immune cells through receptors including CCR1, CCR3, and CCR5. It participates in the normal response to infection and tissue injury.

Follow the pathway

Dr. Purser discusses CCL5 in chronic inflammatory and immune conditions, including research on nervous-system inflammation. A raised level can have several explanations and does not establish a specific disease.

Bring these questions to your visit

Ask which result is being discussed: a genetic variant, a measured protein level, or a diagnosed condition. How does it fit with your symptoms and other tests? Dr. Purser discusses antioxidant support alongside these pathways; ask how any supplement would fit with your medicines and care plan.
