Understand the connection

Cystic fibrosis affects mucus handling and has an inherited basis involving CFTR. Lung care also involves infection, airway clearance, and inflammatory responses.

Follow the pathway

Dr. Purser discusses IL-8, IL-17, neutrophils, and oxidative stress in lung disease, alongside questions about glutathione and the antioxidant network. These discussions are separate from CFTR-directed therapies and established airway and infection care.

Bring these questions to your visit

Ask how any nutrient or antioxidant strategy fits with your cystic fibrosis team’s plan. It should not replace airway clearance, infection treatment, or appropriate CFTR therapy.
