Understand the connection

G6PC2 participates in glucose sensing in pancreatic beta cells. Common variants can influence fasting glucose without having the same meaning as a diagnosis of diabetes.

Follow the pathway

Dr. Purser connects the glucose-phosphorylation cycle with beta-cell signaling and the way a fasting glucose result can differ from A1C or other markers. An inherited tendency and an acquired metabolic condition are related but separate questions.

Bring these questions to your visit

Ask how repeated fasting glucose, A1C, symptoms, and other risk factors fit together. A G6PC2 result alone cannot explain every glucose change or establish whether treatment is needed.
