Understand the connection

Glutathione is part of the body’s antioxidant network. Monocytes are immune cells that can release cytokines when they receive stress or danger signals.

Follow the pathway

Dr. Purser discusses reactive oxygen species, NF-κB, NLRP3, and the cytokines IL-8/CXCL8 and CCL2/MCP-1. His antioxidant teaching pairs glutathione with superoxide dismutase and catalase because the enzymes handle different steps, including superoxide and hydrogen peroxide.

Bring these questions to your visit

Ask how the antioxidant discussion fits with your measured findings and diagnosed condition. Supporting antioxidant defenses and blocking a specific cytokine with a prescription medicine are different approaches; supplement research does not establish a cure for an individual illness.
