Understand the connection

Granuloma annulare is a skin condition that can cause ring-shaped bumps. Its appearance can overlap with other skin problems, making examination important.

Follow the pathway

Dr. Purser explores macrophage activity, granuloma formation, TNF-alpha, interferon-gamma, and related inflammatory pathways. He also discusses oxidative stress and the distinction between localized skin findings and more widespread disease.

Bring these questions to your visit

Ask whether the skin findings need a biopsy and what the likely benefits and risks of treatment are. Do not infer a systemic immune disease from the word “granuloma” alone.
