Understand the connection

IL-15 supports natural killer cells and certain T cells, including memory CD8+ T cells. Immune memory can protect against infection while also contributing to persistent immune activity in some conditions.

Follow the pathway

Dr. Purser discusses IL-15 in relation to chronic inflammatory symptoms, muscle and joint tissues, and vitiligo recurrence. Carrying two identical alleles does not, by itself, prove elevated IL-15 activity.

Bring these questions to your visit

Ask which result is being discussed: a genetic variant, a measured protein level, or a diagnosed condition. How does it fit with your symptoms and other tests? Dr. Purser discusses antioxidant support alongside these pathways; ask how any supplement would fit with your medicines and care plan.
