Understand the connection

IL15RA encodes the high-affinity alpha receptor for IL-15. The receptor can help present IL-15 to neighboring cells, a process called trans-presentation.

Follow the pathway

Dr. Purser connects IL15RA with natural killer cells, CD8+ T cells, and signaling in muscle and joint tissue. The cytokine IL-15 and its receptor IL15RA are related but different entries on a genetic or immune panel.

Bring these questions to your visit

Ask which result is being discussed: a genetic variant, a measured protein level, or a diagnosed condition. How does it fit with your symptoms and other tests? Dr. Purser discusses antioxidant support alongside these pathways; ask how any supplement would fit with your medicines and care plan.
