Understand the connection

Lupus is an autoimmune condition that can affect several organs. Disease activity is assessed through symptoms, examination, and multiple tests.

Follow the pathway

Dr. Purser discusses type I interferons, BAFF/BLyS, IL-17, and other cytokines in lupus. He connects these pathways with targeted therapies such as interferon-receptor and B-cell signaling treatments, while separately considering oxidative stress and nutrient status.

Bring these questions to your visit

Ask which findings show active disease and which organ systems need monitoring. Antioxidant support does not replace medicines used to protect organs from lupus activity.
