Understand the connection

Multiple sclerosis involves immune-mediated injury to myelin and other nervous-system structures. The pattern of attacks, imaging, and examination helps establish the diagnosis.

Follow the pathway

Dr. Purser discusses Th1 and Th17 cells, TNF-alpha, IL-6, IL-17, and oxidative stress around active lesions. He connects this with the blood–brain barrier and the energy demands of affected cells while separately discussing antioxidant support.

Bring these questions to your visit

Ask how the condition’s activity is being monitored and what benefits and risks apply to disease-modifying treatment. Antioxidant or nutrient discussions do not establish reversal of demyelination or replace the treatment plan.
