Understand the connection

Psoriasis involves immune signaling and changes in skin-cell growth. Some people also have inflammatory joint disease.

Follow the pathway

Dr. Purser explains the IL-23/Th17 pathway and distinguishes IL-17A and IL-17F from IL-17C produced by skin cells. This helps explain the feedback between immune cells and the skin, and why treatments can target different steps.

Bring these questions to your visit

Ask how skin severity, joint symptoms, other health conditions, and previous treatment response affect the plan. A common genetic variant is different from a confirmed diagnosis of psoriasis.
