Understand the connection

Scleritis is inflammation of the white outer wall of the eye. It can be painful and may occur with an inflammatory condition elsewhere in the body.

Follow the pathway

Dr. Purser discusses TNF-alpha, IL-6, IL-1 family signals, and Th17/Th22 pathways in eye inflammation. The degree of eye disease cannot be inferred simply from whether a common genetic finding is heterozygous or homozygous.

Bring these questions to your visit

Ask how the diagnosis and cause have been established and how the eye will be monitored. Deep eye pain or vision changes need prompt eye care.
