Understand the connection

TLR4 helps recognize bacterial lipopolysaccharide, or LPS, with assistance from CD14 and MD-2. It is part of the innate immune system’s early-warning network.

Follow the pathway

Dr. Purser connects TLR4 activation with NF-κB signaling, inflammatory cytokines, and the relationship between gut-barrier function and systemic immune activity. A genetic entry, soluble CD14 result, and evidence of infection describe different aspects of this pathway.

Bring these questions to your visit

Ask which result is being discussed: a genetic variant, a measured protein level, or a diagnosed condition. How does it fit with your symptoms and other tests? Dr. Purser discusses antioxidant support alongside these pathways; ask how any supplement would fit with your medicines and care plan.
