Allergic signaling and tissue responses
Allergic signaling and tissue responses
IL13 encodes interleukin-13, a cytokine involved in Th2 immune responses, mucus-related processes and tissue remodeling. It overlaps with some IL-4 functions but is not the same signal.
Putting the pieces together
Dr. Purser places IL-13 in the allergy and Th2 part of his panel. That directs attention to symptoms such as airway or nasal allergy patterns and their timing, rather than assuming every cytokine-related symptom has the same cause. A variant alone does not establish asthma or an allergy.
Where the VARS Triad and MTHFR Daily fit
If you are exploring homocysteine or cytokines, Dr. Purser may discuss MTHFR Daily and the VARS Triad: VARS Glutathione, VARS SOD, and VARS Catalase. He gives glutathione a central place in his approach to antioxidant support.
A gene result alone cannot tell you that you need these products or that they will treat a condition. Review your current results, medicines, goals, and tolerance with your clinician before choosing a product or dose.
A question to bring to your visit
Are symptoms and testing consistent with a Th2 allergic pattern or a different problem?
Variant lookup
These names can help you find an entry on your original genetic report. Seeing a name here does not tell you whether it affects your health or whether you need treatment.
