VDR

VDR encodes the vitamin D receptor, which helps regulate gene activity in response to active vitamin D. A receptor variant does not by itself mean receptors are absent or that the blood vitamin D level is low.

Vitamin D levels and vitamin D response

Vitamin D levels and vitamin D response

VDR encodes the vitamin D receptor, which helps regulate gene activity in response to active vitamin D. A receptor variant does not by itself mean receptors are absent or that the blood vitamin D level is low.

Putting the pieces together

Dr. Purser connects VDR with immune regulation and vitamin D/K2 support. Match supplementation to measured 25-hydroxyvitamin D, calcium, kidney context and the current product list. High-dose vitamin D should not be selected from a SNP alone. The familiar labels are BsmI for rs1544410, TaqI for rs731236 and FokI for rs2228570.

A question to bring to your visit

What do my vitamin D and calcium results show, and when should they be rechecked?

Variant lookup

These names can help you find an entry on your original genetic report. Seeing a name here does not tell you whether it affects your health or whether you need treatment.
