Why this matters

Explore testosterone symptoms and test results in women without assuming a single cause.

How the pieces connect

Symptoms, medicines, other hormones, and goals help explain a testosterone result. A symptom alone does not prove a deficiency.

Low desire deserves a broader conversation

Dr. Purser links testosterone with symptoms in women, including low desire. A symptom is not itself proof of a hormone deficiency. It helps to name the concern and ask about context, including other symptoms, medicines and goals. Dr. Purser’s preferred laboratory targets are not a shortcut around that assessment. A formulation and dose intended for one population should never be inferred from a general discussion of testosterone.

Keep in mind

Some older teaching includes targets or plans that may no longer fit your care. Bring your current results and goals to a qualified clinician before changing treatment.

A question for your next conversation

What other contributors to the symptom should be considered alongside hormones?
